Hassa bint Salman Al Saud is a Saudi royal and academic. She is the daughter of King Salman.

Hassa bint Salman Al Saud, born in 1974, is a Princess and the only daughter of King Salman. She was named after her paternal grandmother, Hassa bint Ahmed Al Sudairi. Her mother is Sultana bint Turki Al Sudairi who was King Salman’s first wife and first cousin. She is the half-sister of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Hassa’s father, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, born on 31 December 1935, has been King of Saudi Arabia since 2015 and was Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia from 2015 to 2022. Salman is the 3rd oldest living head of state and the oldest living monarch besides being the country’s first head of state born after the unification of Saudi Arabia. Salman has been married three times and has fathered at least thirteen children, including twelve sons. His son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is considered the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia, due to the King’s poor health and his political maneuvering.

Although Hassa attended King Abdulaziz University (KAU) in Jeddah for a year during her undergraduate studies, she received her bachelor’s degree in English language and literature from King Saud University in Riyadh. In September 2019 she was convicted in absentia of armed violence. She received a 10-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 10,000 euros. Her bodyguard Rani Saïdi was convicted of violence, sequestration, and theft. On 28 May 2021, Hassa was married to a cousin, Fahd bin Saad Al Saud, at the Royal Sea Place in Jeddah.

Hassa works as a lecturer in the faculty of law and political studies at King Saud University. In 2016, she delivered a keynote address at Al Yamamah University lauding the achievements of Saudi women. She participated in the activities of the Saudi Human Rights Commission. In June 2020 Hassa was made the honorary chair of the Saudi Social Responsibility Association.

Salman’s major initiatives as king include the Saudi intervention in the Yemeni Civil War, Saudi Vision 2030, and a 2017 decree allowing Saudi women to drive.
