Carlos Austin Boozer Jr. was born at a military base in Aschaffenburg, West Germany, on November 20, 1981. He grew up in Juneau, Alaska. He was one of five children of Carlos Sr. Boozer and Renee Boozer. Natasha, Nakeisha, and Natenya are his sisters. His younger brother, Charles Boozer, also played college basketball at Iowa State. Carlos and CeCe dated for years and were married in the summer of 2002. They have three sons together — Carmani, born on May 31, 2006, and twins Cayden and Cameron, born on July 18, 2007.  Carmani was diagnosed with sickle-cell disease and had to undergo a bone marrow transplant to cure the condition.

They reconciled in 2010 and got remarried for the second time but things were not as rosy as they were at first. They finally reached a consensus and finalized their second divorce in 2015.
